Marcus was born 1982 in Västervik, on the southeast coast of Sweden. 2001 Marcus moved to Uppsala and studied philosophy at Uppsala University. In 2002 he moved to Stockholm to study Photojournalism at Nordens Fotoskola for three years.

In 2003 Marcus worked on a project about heroine addicts on Mallorca. During this year Marcus also participated as the only Swedish photographer in the group exhibition and catalouge “Isolation and Togetherness” curated by Anders Petersen.

Between 2002 and 2005 Marcus workeed freelance for different Swedish and international newspapers, magazines and television such as Le Monde, Svenska Dagbladet, Agence Vù, TV4, Dagens Nyheter, Aftonbladet, Ordfront, Folket i Bild, Vision, etc.

From 2005 to 2009 Marcus worked as an assistant to the Swedish photographers JH Engström and Anders Petersen. Amongst others he has been Digital Image Editor of Anders Petersen’s upcoming book. He has been editor and graphic designer of the book ”a line across china” and curated its exhibition.
He also was curator of the Lennart Nilsson Award 2008.

In 2009 Marcus photographed th 200year anniversery book for the Karolinska Institute. Marcus also became board member of Lennart Nilsson Award and for Galleri Kontrast for with he has curated sereral exhibitions. Marcus has also worked on a several book projects with the publishinghouse Max Ström in Stockholm.

In mars 2010 Marcus opens his first big solo exhibition at Galleri KG52 in Stockholm.

Marcus Erixson’s work has been shown in international magazines and galleries like Photonouvelles, Paris, Atelier de visu, Marseille, Photography foundation, Istanbul, Turkey, Goethe institute, Thessalonikki, Greece .
